How to Powerwash Chromebook or Factory Reset it?

Factory Reset or Powerwash on Chromebook can be performed easily by following the steps given below. This step will wipe most of your data such as reminders set in calendar, the passwords which you had saved on the browser, email sync data with your Google account, etc.

Confusion Clearing Note: Please note that Powerwash word was used in the older versions of Chromebook. In the new versions of Chromebook Factory Reset word is used. So don't get confused, both words have the same function.

#Through Chrome Browser

1. Click on Menu on the bottom right corner of your screen.

2. Then go to Settings as shown below.

3. Chrome settings will open on a new tab in Chrome browser. Scroll down the way to and click on Show advanced settings...
You will get either Factory Reset option or Powerwash option as shown below.
4. Scroll down to the bottom and click on Powerwash as shown above. Some models may show Reset instead of Powerwash, so you can click on Reset.

5. Finally you would be prompted for Restart, click on Restart and you are done.

#Powerwash Chrombook Through Sign-On Screen

To perform a Powerwash on your Chromebook or factory reset follow the steps mentioned below:-

1. You have to simply press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + R key simultaneously.

2. You will get a prompt to restart like the one shown above. Press Restart.

Once done with the restart you will get the start screen of your Chromebook.
