Enable Developer Mode in Windows 10

There are three ways to enable Developer mode in Windows 10. They are as follows:-

1. Through User Interface
2. Through Local Group Policy
3. Through Registry Editor

I will show you all the three methods below which will help you to enable developer mode in Windows 10. So let’s get started with the tutorial as follows:-

Enable Developer Mode in Windows 10 – Through User Interface

1 Click Start Menu on the lower left corner of your screen.

2. Now click on Settings as shown below in the image.

3. Then click on Update & Security.

4. On the lower left side of the window click on For Developers option as shown below.

5. Select Developer mode from the Use developer features section.

6. A blue window will pop up on your screen to confirm whether you want to Turn on Developer mode? Simply click on Yes and you are done.

If you have followed all the steps given above properly, then you have successfully enabled Developer mode in Windows 10 through User Interface.

Enabling Developer Mode in Windows 10 – Through Local Group Policy

1. Type gpedit in the Search box.

2. And click on Edit Group Policy as shown below.

3. Navigate to Local Computer Policy >> Computer Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> App Package Deployment.

Here you have to Edit and Enable the following two policies one by one:-

1. Allows development of Windows Store apps and installing them from an integrated development environment (IDE).
2. Allow all trusted apps to install.

I have shown the method for the 1st Group Policy. Same way you have to do the 2nd also.

You will get this window when you click on Edit. Here you have to simply select the Enable option.

So this was the method to Enable Developer mode in Windows using Local Group Policy.

How to Enable Developer mode in Windows 10 using Registry Editor

1. Type regedit in the search box next to Windows menu and open Registry Editor.

2. Navigate to these two keys mentioned below:-

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModelUnlock\AllowAllTrustedApps

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModelUnlock\AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense

Set the DWORD value of both these keys to 1.

Once you have set the value of both these keys to 1 you have successfully enabled Developer mode through Registry Editor.
