How to Turn On or Enable Remote Desktop in Windows 10

Remote Desktop Service allows you to remotely access any Computer from your own PC itself. This is mostly helpful when we connect our Home PC with our Office computer.

You will also need remote access connection in case if you are having problem with your pc and an IT administrator wants access to check your pc.

In my earlier post I have mentioned about How to fix VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR. In this post I will show you how to turn on or Enable Remote Desktop on Windows 10 Home, Pro, Education and Enterprise Edition.

How to Enable Remote Desktop on Windows 10



So let's get started with the tutorial on how to turn on or enable remote desktop in Windows 10 as follows:-

1. Type Allow remote access to your computer in the Search box as shown below.


2. Click on Allow remote access to your computer to open Remote System Properties.

3. You will Remote System Properties window as shown below. Ensure that you are on the Remote Tab.



4. Select radio button next to Allow remote connections to this computer.

Make sure that check box is marked next to Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended).

If your computer is set up to go to sleep or hibernation mode when not in use, then you might get a dialog box reminding you that computer is set up to go to sleep or hibernate. You can't connect to it remotely in sleep or hibernation mode. So simply click OK.


5. Click on Select Users... option. Here you have to add all those users or non-administrator whom you want to grant remote log on rights and privileges to remotely access or control the computer.

When you click on Select Users...  you will get Remote Desktop Users dialog box as shown below.

6. Simply click on Add button as shown below.

7. Now here you have to type the names of the Users whom you want to grant remote desktop connection privileges and then click OK.

8. Once you are done adding all Users, click Apply on Remote Desktop Users window.

9. Then click OK and you have successfully Enabled Remote Desktop on Windows 10.
